Essenziali vases - Cilindro & Trapezio

The new Essenziali collection thus continues the investigations in the world of Murano furnaces which Peri

began with his first collection designed for Purho: Incisioni. At first sight opposites in technique, shape and

name, the two collections are actually linked by a common thread that completes a perfect circle around the

expressive potential of Murano glass.

If Incisioni - with the exception of the Linae vases - was born from the crafting of a solid glass cylinder,

mainly accentuating the work of the master engravers, Essenziali on the contrary focuses on the skills of the

master glass blowers beginning from the creation of a hollow cylinder.

Made up of two vases, Trapezio and Cilindro, each available in different sizes, finishes and colours, the

Essenziali collection evolves from a common shape, the cylinder, subjected to different operations: in

"Cilindro" it is ovalized and conified, while in "Trapezio" it is the flattening of the four faces that defines the

final line with rounded edges.

But it is in the mouths of the vases that the manual skills involved in their manufacture are deliberately

allowed to shine through. Characterized by a marked rounding given by the raw processing when the glass

is still white-hot, in the "Trapezio" vases the mouth is given further diagonal cuts and is always finished by

hand. An apparent irregularity that dignifies the lines and gives character to the final product.

In Essenziali even the colours speak of cleanliness and sobriety.

Smoke, honey, deep blue, crystal, carefully-measured colours that allow themselves only one habit: passing

from the glossy-transparent finish to satin-shaded for a material effect that becomes true substance in the

purity of forms.
